KABUL, Afghanistan ? NATO says one of its service members has been killed in southern Afghanistan, apparently by an Afghan army soldier.
The coalition statement said the incident occurred Sunday but contained no information about the victim's nationality.
The shooting, which brought to 11 the number of NATO soldiers killed this month, appeared to be the latest in a series of attacks by members of the Afghan security forces against coalition partners.
The incidents have raised fears of increased Taliban infiltration of the Afghan police and army. NATO officials say the repeated incidents all had different causes and backgrounds and were not an indication of guerrilla activity within the Afghan ranks.
NATO is encouraging Afghan security forces to take more responsibility ahead of the coalitions 2014 pullout target date.
