Fort Campbell's Outdoor Recreation announces March Adventure ...

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY ? Spring is almost here!? Come and celebrate with Outdoor Recreation.

On March 10th from 9:00am until 4:00pm you are invited to join Outdoor Recreation while they ride the scenic trails at Chickasaw Trace. Chickasaw Trace is a small 300 acre park, bordering the Duck River just Southeast of Nashville.? It may be small but this park offers some of the best mountain biking in Middle Tennessee. It has something to offer cyclists of all levels of experience. Helmets and bikes will be provided.? The cost is $19.00 per person, ages 14 and up.? Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on March 9th.

Women in the Wilderness Archery will meet on March 15th from 1:00pm until 2:30pm and on March 29th from 5:30pm until 7:00pm. You must be at least 18 years old to participate and the cost is $10.00 per session. ?Women in the Wilderness? is a program designed for women who enjoy outdoor sports and learning new skills. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on the day prior to the event.

It?s that time of the year. Whether you?re new to the sport of turkey hunting or just want to brush up on your skills, go to Wohali Pavilion at Outdoor Recreation for a free seminar hosted by COL (RET) Jack Oliver, a member of the National Wild Turkey Foundation and a nationally recognized sportsman. The Spring Turkey Hunting Seminar will be held on March 16th from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. There is no cost to attend. Please preregister by 4:00pm on March 8th.

Let Outdoor Recreation drive you to downtown Nashville for the St. Paddy?s Day party. Listen to live music, eat great food, and if you?re over 21, you can stop by the Irish pub for a green beer! Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on March 16th. The celebration leaves from Outdoor at 1:00pm and will return at 7:00pm on March 17th. You must be at least 18 years old to participate and the cost is $10.00 per person.

Join Outdoor Rec on March 18th at 1:00pm for a Dog Hike. Whether your pooch is big or small, they will love spending time with their owner while hiking the trails located around Outdoor Rec. Dogs must remain on leashes. The cost is $5.00 and preregistration is required by 9:00am on March 18th.

On March 24th from 8:00am until 6:00pm you can enjoy a moderate day hike at Fall Creek Falls. Ages 10 and above are invited to join Outdoor Recreation on this hike for $19.00 per person. The spring brings rain to the southeast and this is the best time to see the largest waterfall in the eastern U.S. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on March 23rd.

Are you interested in learning how to kayak or just want to work on your skills?? Come out to the Whitewater Kayak Pool Clinic on March 29th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and Outdoor Rec staff will help you work on various techniques which include boat selection, proper fitting, paddle strokes, bracing, and even the Eskimo roll. These sessions are designed for all experience levels. Cost is $25.00 and ages 12 and above may participate. Preregistration is required.

On March 31st, from 9:00am until 2:00pm, join Outdoor Recreation for a King?s Bluff Climbing trip. Ages 12 and above are invited to participate. Did you know that Clarksville has some of the best climbing in middle TN? King?s Bluff is a scenic 2 mile crag located just 15 minutes from post. Transportation and equipment will be provided.? Please bring appropriate clothing, water, snacks, and a packed lunch. The trip is geared towards beginners, so all are welcome!? Cost is $35.00 and preregistration required by 4:00pm on March 30th.

Introduction to Fly Fishing will be offered on March 31st from 9:00am until 3:00pm. This class is for anyone interested in learning to fish with a fly rod.? The class covers all of the basics and is geared toward preparing those who are just starting out in the sport. You?ll even get a little fishing time at Lake Taal. All equipment will be provided and lunch is included. You must have a valid fishing license to participate in the fishing portion of the clinic.? Cost is $35.00 and preregistration is required by 4:00pm on March 21st.

Outdoor Recreation also does customized private trips for units or Family Readiness Groups (FRGs). Trip registration can be done in person or over the phone, seven days a week, between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm. Locations and times of trips are subject to change due to weather conditions. Please dress appropriately for each event.

Cancellations initiated by the participant 48 hours in advance of the trip are entitled to a full refund. However, refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours of the trip will be determined by management. Outdoor Recreation reserves the right to postpone, alter, or cancel any trip.
